Day 2

Today was a little more mellow than yesterday. We got to the hospital about 8:30am and spent time with little Everett, Amanda and the amazing nursing staff. We had some alone time with Everett and gave Amanda some too while we grabbed lunch in downtown Chippewa Falls (cute little town and not-that-bad Mexican food).

Everett checks out as healthy and eats and sleeps like a champ (takes after his big sis!) He never actually lost weight and showed a gain today -- not very common, but great! Everyone was scheduled to check out of the hospital tomorrow (Thurs.), but to our surprise, Amanda was ready to go home tonight. She feels good physically and emotionally and so her mom, Kim, and 20-month old daughter, Autumn, came to take her home. At about 8:30pm tonight, we did have to call in the social worker for paperwork signing (the official adoption consent papers) and Amanda seemed content to sign everything. Everything gets filed tomorrow and the process begins to allow us to come home. Fingers crossed -- could be as soon as next week if all goes well!

Tomorrow, Everett should be discharged and we look forward to having him all to ourselves.

He showed off his dark blue eyes today several times.

Our incredibly brave and selfless birthmom, Amanda, who has given us the most wonderful gift.

Male bonding.

Baby feet.

Saying goodnight before heading back to our hotel.
